Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid Specials

If you've seen the main series, you know what to expect from the specials. They're all short, just over one-minute long streams of consciousness that mainly boil down to lesbian breasts rubbing against other lesbian breasts. Because each episode is so short, I'll just give quick reviews for each one.

Special 1: Standard yuri scene between Mamori and Mirei. Some dialogue thrown in as window dressing to bookend it, with orgasms galore for the rest of it.

Special 2: Charlotte in the bath fantasizing about all the different girls she can have S&M fun with. Special mention goes to her getting so aroused that her nipples pop ... out from their inverted state.

Special 3: A solo-session with Kasumi, who spends most of the special imagining having sex with Hibike. Ends with an orgasm and some tears in an attempt to pretend it's deeper than it is.

Special 4: Another solo, this time with Akira. Basically a two minute-long monologue of how she misses her partner and woes having to pretend to be a man. How exactly she's able to compress her massive breasts to such a flat state without obvious overhang is never revealed.

Special 5: Probably the most extreme scene out of the bunch, featuring Rei and Lady J going to town on each other. Stand-out scene involves an intense finger-fucking of J's nipples.

Special 6: Momoka fantasy centering around her playing with Mirei's breasts, ending with her snapping out of it while playing with her own.

In summary, the specials are exactly what you'd expect from a series like this: Small, previously unseen ecchi highlights with even less real plot to speak of. Watch if you're out of real hentai.

These specials are everything I wanted the main show to be back when I found it, back in my degenerate days where the only anime I watched came from a site with an x or hub in it. If you're watching this show for the horny, and not for the terrible plot, look no further than here. It's basically hentai, but sticks to the guidelines just barely enough to squeak by as only ecchi anime.

There is actually some minor characterization for some of the side characters if for some unknowable reason you cared about the characters from this train wreck of a series. Not for ... me, thanks, but it's there I guess. 6/10 for the "fine" meme.

Valkyrie Drive was one of the worst times I've had watching an anime, and some of you might call me a fool for continuing to watch this show even though I hated it, but the truth is I'm a bit of a completionist and I really wanna get this over with.

Story
There's no story! This miniseries is just a bunch of lesbians having sex and touching each other's breasts. You know, I think this minseries is better than the main series for diving straight into the fanservice instead of just trying to deceive viewers by trying to tell a ... story. It's not much, but hey, it's something. (4/10)

Characters
There isn't much in the way of character writing in this show, unless you consider the characters' sexual reactions as character writing. *sigh* Let's just move on. (3/10)

Art
What do you know? A show about lesbian fanservice dedicates a huge portion of its budget to the visual department. Just when you think the main series didn't have enough scenes of erect nipples, this miniseries give us some more. (7/10)

Sound
Enough praise cannot be given to the voice actresses in this show. They deserve a huge paycheck, given the material they had to work with. (8/10)

Overall
At long last, my agony has come to an end. This pathetic and lousy excuse for a TV show is over. Other than the fanservice, this show has no redeeming qualities and unless you are in the mood for some lesbian fanservice, then I suggest you stay away from this show.
