Kimi ni Todoke: Soulmate was a much needed spinoff for readers who appreciated Kurumi's character in the original Kimi ni Todoke series! She's always been a character I enjoyed from the original series because she was such an interesting and well-written "villain." After seeing how her relationship with Sawako developed in the original Kimi ni Todoke series, I had always wished to see more of her—and the author granted that wish!

In this series, Kurumi finally gets her own love story, but not without some challenges. She must overcome her fears of being disliked for her personality, as well as learn to accept and forgive ... herself, too. Being honest and true to her feelings does not prove easy, though!

The author also brings in a character from another previous work of hers, Crazy For You, who honestly was the perfect match for Kurumi. I really enjoyed seeing their chemistry, and feel so happy that Kurumi got her turn in the spotlight—with of course, some background from our beloved Sawako.

Overall, if you loved Ume Kurumizawa in the original series, definitely check out this adorable spinoff! If you haven't read Crazy for You, I don't think you'll be completely lost reading this side story—but it can really help give you more insight for the male lead if you do choose to read that series first.

If you already read Kimi ni Todoke, you will know how autor works in her mangas series, however you are gonna take a surpise in this one since she mixes her previuos style with currently shojos series. Even though this series its completly diffrent from kimi ni todok cuz its focused on Kurumi and Sawako's cousin Eiji... One thing that i need to say is: I really like how Shiin works on Kurimi's sides by giving her more feelings for othes, and of course the thought about Sawako being her soulmate, not to say, but it was wonderful...
On the other hand, I'm kinda dissapointed about ... Sakako is not having a lot of time in this manga, and i think she can help pretty much better to kurumi...

Well its Kurimi and brother Eiji... But I'd like to have more Sawako's moments

I hate to do it, but I will... This manga is just a giant no. A fat giant NO.

The Kurumi that we know and love does a 180, because that's what we're doing in the sequel to a manga. Kurumi has already been redeemed, and her fans love her for who she is. Why is she doing a 180? What is the reason? Why does she develop twice?

And Eiji is an unappealing MC. Who insults the looks of your supposed love interest? Kurumi is implied to like people like Kazehaya and Sawako, because they're determined and the ... opposite of her. Good thing she gets with a guy that isn't anything like Kazehaya or Sawako, and isn't even the opposite of her... He's just annoying.

It's almost like the mangaka was aware of people calling Kurumi queer, and she quietly just made this manga to refute those claims. Or as if people were shipping Kurumi with Sawako, and she wanted to quickly shut it down. Like, Sawako's cousin randomly appearing after we didn't hear of him ever? He just happened to be there? So we get male insert Sawako because the mangaka didn't want Kurumi to be queer? Yeah, no.
