I stumbled upon this anime while scrolling through the currently airing shows. I was surprised to see a show with no ratings, synopsis, or reviews, even though it's been "currently airing" for the past two months. Then I noticed the episodes were 42 seconds long...?
Looking up the title online, I was able to find this plot:
"Pheles Academy is a prestigious boarding school that is glamorous and free, but with strict school rules. However, there was a secret in this school that must not be revealed.
Uno, a fallen angel who transferred from heaven, Chris, half cat and half demon, March, made of green apple flavored gummy ... bears, and Yongjin, a shy boy with octopus tentacles. These three unique characters are enjoying their youth, but eventually they open the door to their own world.
The door opens into a strange, alien space that is neither reality nor a dream. Endless white corridors, distorted classrooms, giggling cats.... What will happen to them in this gradually distorting world? What is the secret hidden in Pheles Academy? And will they be able to graduate safely?"
Barely any other info pops up, and no streaming services have this.
I managed to find their Instagram , which has the "episodes": https://www.instagram.com/dreamphotobooth.anime/
The animation is low budget, and very little info is given besides weird supernatural occurrences.
Is this supposed to be the actual anime since they're titled episode 1 and 2, or are these teaser previews?
One of their posts refers to the anime as Project Ains, which brings up nothing of relevance on Google, even if you add "anime" to the search. The post links to their Twitter : https://twitter.com/projectains
While writing this review, I saw they tweeted episode 3 an hour ago. https://twitter.com/projectains/status/1933449267068481637
Their Twitter bio includes a link to their website: https://project-ains.jp/
with the "About" section describing the "anime" as a fusion of illustration and animation. From what I can understand, they are taking a single illustration and turning it into a short animation where they bring to life the world the artist had envisioned while drawing.
This seems more like an art project than an anime. Not sure why it's even on MAL. Rating this 2 as I'm not really a fan of the final product, and this isn't even an anime.

This review contains HEAVY spoilers.
It seems to be a rather unpopular opinion, but the path this season took was not good.
Chihaya's main goal is to be the Queen, which is stressed multiple times throughout the series. She devotes everything to karuta and is so obsessed that it's all she ever thinks about.
She won the team national championship with her club and is finally on the road to challenging Shinobu. Except it doesn't happen. The anticipated climax is cancelled because the school field trip's dates overlap with the challenger's tournament. I understand that Chihaya wants to become a club advisor teacher, but skipping out on ... her biggest goal for a field trip? Come on. A school trip to Kyoto is so important for becoming a teacher that she would sacrifice the opportunity to fight for her dream?
Whatever, she still has her third year to attempt, so it just delays the story and instead gives us an intense Harada and Shinobu arc.
Alright, the challenger games have finished, and Arata convinced Suo to extend his career for another year. Our main characters have graduated to the third year and are finally back on track. We are finally getting to see Chihaya work towards the Queen title, right?
In the last couple of episodes, Taichi confesses to Chihaya, who rejects him. The heartbreak causes Taichi to lose his first place test score and quits the club. In turn, Chihaya falls apart and quits as well. What...? Are you kidding me? The series was going so well, even with the challenger tournament being delayed to year 3, and now they're both gone?
The entire main goal and arc that I was looking forward to is in the gutter. The remaining of the club manage to recruit 4 new players, but are vastly weaker now as their two strongest star players have retired.
One of the new is another obnoxiously annoying character like that one who kept changing the starting order paper to his name. I dislike that character so much I can't even his name. I am not looking forward to seeing this girl be part of the club and having to deal with her screen time.
Tsutomu, Kanade, and Nishida are all in their final year now, which means even if or when our main characters decide to play again, it'll be too late.
I wanted to see Chiyaha improve to the point where she can beat Shinobu. I wanted to see Taichi refine himself into a monster at defensive karuta. I wanted to see Arata take down Suo. But instead, I get to see the characters I've grown attached to fall apart.
This anime series is slow to adapt and will take years if we even get a season 4. The queen arc was delayed this season in favor of Harada/Shinobu arc, and now the next season will likely also delay it since the focus will be on the main characters reconciling. The love polygon has killed the show, and would've been better off with either a monogamous love story or none at all.
The series remains a masterpiece filled with excitement and intensity, but the ending of this season was highly disappointing. I'd have much rather enjoyed it if they had not adapted the last couple of episodes and instead left it for the beginning of season 4.

Incredibly funny show with lots of ridiculous and stupid moments.
Laughing my sides out without even ing the first 10 minutes of episode 1.
The voice actresses did a fantastic job and also sang the ED, which is an absolute banger.
My only complaint about this anime is the recurring pedophilic scenes. An adult character refers to the trio as "raw middle schoolers" and is elated to breathe the air of an all-girls middle school. One of the teachers is a disturbing freak who licks water from the floor, thinking it is one of the girls' urine. I would've easily given this show a 9, but these scenes ... made it uncomfortable and less enjoyable. If you can look past them, this anime is a comedy goldmine.

This show is pretty bad.
The main character is a dickhead. I understand he doesn't believe in God, but he comes off as a reddit atheist nerd.
When the girls pray because of an important lost item, he mouths them off, saying it's a waste of time. He makes a similar remark about children making origami cranes for their sick parents in the hospital, although not directly to them. The show tries to explain this as him having difficulty communicating despite being caring and the cause being his sad backstory. Even then, it doesn't take a genius to be aware enough not to say these things.
He should ... also be fully aware that SHRINE MAIDENS in a TEMPLE pray and believe in God. He is moving in to live with them, so regardless of his religious beliefs, he should be compromising.
One of the sisters tries to lighten up the mood by mentioning something along the lines of wishing upon a shooting star, to which he retorts, saying it's not scientifically possible at this time of year, and even if it did, it would crash into earth. But then you wouldn't believe it, a true miracle happens despite the scientific reasoning he just described!!
The anime is tagged as a comedy, but it isn't funny. It's filled with all your cliche harem situations and includes poorly executed vulnerable moments that are supposed to be emotional but aren't.
The romance is terrible because everyone and everything in this show feels flat and lacks depth.
Episode 4/5 introduces an antagonist that is also a complete dickhead but is overtly nasty as he's the bad guy. I couldn't be bothered to continue watching this anime. The plot is a rehashed pattern you've seen before. You already know how everything is going to play out.

I try to avoid as many explicit story spoilers in this review; however, this review talks about the overall focus and direction of the season. Jujutsu Kaisen is referenced at one point in this review to draw a parallel to a certain issue, but again, there are no direct spoilers. I do not believe it is that major/important of a "spoiler", but in case you haven't seen JJK s2, I leave you with this warning.
This season sucks.
The entirety is essentially the Petelgeuse fight scene. A bunch of fight scenes with crazy villains that sadistically and fanatically inflict pain while the good guys fight back. In ... shonen shows, this would be the good stuff, the exhilarating fight scenes, but I felt nothing from this. It's rinse and repeat.
Previous seasons kept me entertained as the focus was on Subaru and dealing with absurd situations filled with drama and psychological suspense. The uneasy feeling of encounters with villains and plot twists/shocks had me watching episode after episode. The thrilling feeling of everything crashing down when Subaru suddenly resets, the despair of nothing going right, the encounter with the Witch of Greed, the hand caressing his heart while time stops...
This season abandons that focus and shifts towards fight-focused encounters. In fact, far too many. I much prefer singular, focused encounters over multiple split ones involving a multitude of characters swapping back and forth. The mental warfare and problem solving are still present but are secondary and a repetition of what we've seen before. I do not feel the rush of encountering villains as I did previously; rather, a plain acknowledgment of their appearance.
"Everything is going bad, but with the power of hope and friendship, we can fight back" type show.
New characters are introduced, which frankly I couldn't care less about. None were memorable or likable, especially the Songstress and all scenes involving her. Without delving deeply as to avoid spoilers, I absolutely HATE this character. Anything involving them is complete garbage and their specialty kills the mood. All scenes with the Songstress as the main focus are cringe-infested trash that make me roll my eyes and emotional scenes are rendered superficial. I had to fast-forward the majority of this character's screen time. I genuinely hope never to see them or anything of a similar nature in future seasons.
The only new character I enjoyed was the Archbishop of Lust, as their abilities and involvement with certain characters were fairly interesting. Making villains as oddball as possible in personality, actions, and appearance is NOT interesting. These villains are evil for the sake of being an antagonist and are so comically evil that it takes away from the seriousness. In the same regard, having overpowered characters leads to power creep issues. How do you showcase an extreme display of power when the character is already untouchable? The actions they perform become more and more absurd. JJK suffers from this heavily, and it bleeds into this show.
This season still contains its fair share of good moments, but overall, it's a boring snoozefest that brings nothing new or exciting. A forgettable one that you're better off reading the spoilers and skipping to watch the next (hopefully better) one.
But I have doubts, considering what I enjoyed most was Subaru's trauma of getting eviscerated and unknowingly reset. The previous season steers him away from shouldering everything and encourages him not to use his reset ability as much as possible and to rely on friends instead. The psychological drama and horror thriller that was abandoned this season leaves me worried for future ones.
At least I got to see Priscilla half-naked.

This review contains heavy spoilers about the ending including what happens to the characters and what they do, but does not reveal who the killer is. It also references Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin a bit so if you haven't finished that maybe don't read this.
It's so sad, this show was peak until the ending.
The drama and suspense are fantastic, everything felt so good while watching the show. I was fully invested in the characters and wanted the best for everyone. I felt such strong emotions for Kayo. I wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be alright.
I kinda guessed who the killer ... was early on so it wasn't much of a surprise when it was revealed but from that point on I feel like the show dropped the ball. The direction the ending took could've been so much better. It heavily reminds me of AOT. Such a stellar series throughout with a controversial ending that I and many others believe could've been better. There's so many different paths both shows could've taken but instead, they chose the one that makes you feel "eh I guess it's ok but it feels underwhelming when the series has been so strong throughout".
Satoru finally learns the identity of the killer only for the killer to put him in an accident that leaves him in a coma for years. He wakes up and slowly regains his memory while recovering his strength. Kayo, the girl he had started to build a romantic relationship with, shows up at the hospital with the baby she had with another kid from their friend group. I get the whole idea that everyone including Kayo needed to move on with their life but man does it feel so shitty to see. Brother just woke up from a coma to see his girl married with a baby to his childhood friend. The two had gone through so much together and both showed interest in one another. I was all in and wanted to see them end up together only for everything to come crashing down. I dislike the entire coma ordeal. I'd much rather have preferred him to continue growing up with Kayo and provide her with the happiness and love she never had.
Even the confrontation with the killer and the process of bringing them to justice for a happy ending all felt so off.
The killer's reason for being a serial killer is surprisingly realistic. There isn't some deep meaning. They are straight-up a psychopath who exhibited serial killer traits like animal abuse as a child and moved on to humans as they got older.
I am disappointed and frustrated. It should've been so much better. I invested so much into the series only to be dissatisfied. It was a strong 9 for the entirety until the ending, dropping it to an 8.

It's not bad. If you want an isekai harem with really hot girls of different species and some ecchi/romance mixed in then this show is fine. The fighting is pretty meh and the story is filled with a lot of flaws and plot holes.
The show is extremely predictable, you already know what's going to happen the majority of the show before you even watch it cause the synopsis tells you everything. He's going to go around collecting the rings aka go find the 4 other hot girls to marry then fight to save the world from the Abyss King. And I'm sure you can guess ... how it ends.
It's only worth watching if you're in it for the lewd waifus and not the story. The show does have romance progression but it doesn't feel satisfying. Too many times things start to get good only for your usual interruptions to ruin the moment. Still much better than your common blue balls romance shows where you have to wait till the final episode to see them potentially kiss let alone confess.
Don't bother watching unless you're only here for the waifus.

The beginning wasn't that bad, but the show became pretty boring. There are tons of emotional scenes that feel bland and superficial. Villains exist to have villains and their reasons are lame/dumb, especially the main antagonist. Another eye-rolling "you guys are the baddies who've done really bad things but we don't want to kill you guys cause we are the really good guys".
The entire class gets isekai'd but that idea gets tossed early in the story. The main character doesn't even interact with them at all and goes off to adventure a second time on his own. The only time they are relevant is when ... they get sent back home...
This anime is like all the other power fantasy slop. You've seen one of them you've seen all of them.
I enjoyed stereotypical overpowered fantasy isekai trash but this isn't one of the good ones.

The show is stereotypical and predictable but that's what you'd expect from your seasonal isekai trash.
I'm not even sure why they made this an isekai reincarnation when it has nothing to do with it. The entire story can easily be written without it. In fact, you forget that this is an isekai while watching it. The only use that it has is as the source of her basic daily use inventions like a hairdryer or foam pump. People from their world invented things like air conditioners and street lights so her "otherworldly unique item ideas" gimmick is useless. Make her into an inventor with unique ... ideas like the other great inventors and toss the isekai factor into the garbage bin.
The death of her father is random. He's a young healthy guy that suddenly collapses and kicks the bucket. Yes, this happens irl but it feels just so out of place.
Everything is superficial but nothing is terribly bad that makes it unwatchable.
It's a nothing-burger show. You expect a cool magical fantasy story but it's pretty meh and nothing exciting.
They bait you with an "oh my god he's so hot that he's suffering from his own looks and coolness and oh he's actually really strong and kind" guy and a recently divorced heroine but there's no romance in this show at all.
It's a waste of time unless you're craving an isekai (if you can even call it that) magical fantasy show and have nothing better to watch.

I have not seen the original version, only the remake. This review contains spoilers detailing two fighting/face-off scenes.
The show is cute, funny, and enjoyable; however, the middle part suffers from the same issue I have with Spy x Family.
The silly situations are fine but eventually, devolve into moments that are so bizarre they become boring.
Ranma has to face off against a girl from another school using acrobatic martial arts but can only use gymnastic tools like a ribbon wand or hula hoop. His opponent manages to handicap him by chaining a piglet to his wrist. Ranma manages to knock his opponent out of the ring ... but she avoids elimination because she has a hoard of girls under the ring who move it around so that she can safely land. Ranma smashes the boxing ring causing the girls to run away and the playing field becomes only the ropes and corner poles. He defeats his opponent by suplexing the corner pole which she's standing on.
In another scene, he has to compete against an ice skating duo that uses a 4 man lock on him and his partner while they spin around at the speed of light, oh and the entire skate rink is actually the top layer of a pool which eventually shatters. His duo is stuck between two icebergs and is holding on by doing the split, he's about to be slam-dunked into the water so he pulls the two icebergs together using sheer strength, stopping his opponent's momentum.
It feels as ridiculous typing this out as it did watching it. Spy x Family had the same nonsense going on with the tennis match from S1P2 (?).
I do not find "make the most extremely bizarre and unpredictably weird scenarios you can think of" funny. I'd much rather prefer great comedic timing and witty responses that this show has.
I still thoroughly enjoyed the series and it made me laugh a lot, I just wish authors would stop coming up with "haha random = funny" scenes.
Also side note, I'm pretty tired of characters having god awful names. There's a girl named "Shampoo" in this series. I think it's getting to me because I recently watched Pretty Derby in which the heroine is named "Special Week" and other characters are even worse like "Air Groove" or "Gold Ship".
