I don't feel that the characters are especially similar, but I am surprised that this hasn't been recommended here. The themes feel very similar when it comes to the lengths they want to go within the music industry. Both are about bands/singers trying to reach new heights on the road to fame. In both the main characters suffer heartbreak and loss and have to find a way to keep moving forward and turn it into music.
both are drama themed stories focusing on the trials and tribulations of a ya cast as well as nice art and character designs too as well as music focus too.
