The story of the anime itself is explained very briefly. We follow MC mangaka Chica on her various journey around japan, mostly together with some of her friends. Along with her journeys we see many breath-taking landmarks and some few insights about their personalities itself. The time between her journeys is mostly shown with 2 scenes: Chikas rarely succesful submit of a manga storyboard and her poll for her next destination. That's really all.
At least the personalities of Chika and all of her friends has their depths, so it can provide some interesting discussions and nice interactions of the characters. But it can not conceal the lack of story. In the end it is not much more then a 1-dimensional tour across japan.
If you like to see breath-taking sceneries in a peaceful setting like in Laid-Back Camp (Zatsu Tabi got obviously inspired by Laid-Back Camp) you can try this anime. This is the perfect anime to just watch, enjoy, and putting off your brain. On the one hand there are no scenes, where you have to think. On the other hand, there are no bad jokes which attacks your sense of humor. Just get washed over by some nice story-poor pictures.
